Our Village

Countless skilled tradespeople contributed their time, talent, and labor to this project. We asked them to build something significantly better than the status quo and learn with us as we built Tacoma’s first Passive House apartment building together. Nocturne would not be the project it is without these folks.

What our current and past residents have to say

Living on 6th Avenue in Tacoma at Cady and John's property was truly a treat. Their space features clean, modern design with tons of natural light—especially important during Pacific Northwest winters. Spaces like this are so rare to find when you are renting, and the attention to detail in every room really shows. As architects, they understand how to create a beautiful and functional living environment, and as landlords, they're genuinely kind and responsive people who truly care about their tenants’ experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their properties.”

— Kerianne, Wedgeview

“Living in this unique, thoughtfully designed apartment has been a pleasure. It’s a comfortable space in a great location with a beautifully maintained building. It’s been easy to feel at home here for nearly seven years.

— Ravi, Wedgeview

“When relocating to Tacoma, WA, our apartment non-negotiables were access to a downtown area, exposure to natural light, and high ceilings. WC Studio's design exceeded our expectations, the apartments met all of our needs while also providing extremely energy-efficient amenities. The attention to detail is exceptional, both on the interior and exterior of the building.”

— Kate + Tom, Wedgeview

“We have been residents for almost seven years and have had an overwhelmingly positive experience. What initially drew us to the property was the building’s distinctive architecture, its thoughtfully designed and spacious interior, and the competitive rental pricing—especially in comparison to our previous residence. John and Cady have consistently ensured that the building is well maintained and are always responsive and helpful whenever we have questions or maintenance issues related to our unit.”

Our Commitment to You

We know you have options when it comes to deciding where to live. By choosing to live at Nocturne you are supporting a home-grown housing provider and Tacoma small business. We spent the last four years designing and building the Nocturne and will continue our involvement as the property caretakers, frequently on site to keep the grounds tidy, plants growing, and residents thriving.

Resident retention is part of our business model. We don’t use deceptive or gimmicky pricing strategies to get leases signed only to hike rents at renewal time. Instead we offer our residents value and stability through competitive rents, a fixed monthly utility charge that includes high-speed internet, and predictable annual increases of $30 on 12-month renewals and $60 for month-to-month leases ($15 and $30 respectively for income-qualified units).
